The Band's Review:

It was a gig.
Some people showed up.
So did we.
We played.
Late.
We played pretty well, all things considered.
People seemed to like it.
There were other bands there too.
One of them borrowed my bass cab.
One of them played Korn (and nothing else).
One of them tried to smash up his guitar but his Mum went up to the stage and told him to stop it.
I laughed.
It was my first gig on bass.
It was our first gig without Tom.
It was Gav's first gig as sole guitar player.
But he wasn't playing soul.
We spent the time between soundcheck and the gig in casualty.
Gav was sad.
I was distracted.
Funder played with shades on. He is rock.
Dan played with cords on. He is not.
We played some new songs.
Some people liked them.
Some not so much.
The gig went well.
Our most esteemed friends and punters were happy.
We are happy.

Morals:

Saturday night, the Amersham Arms, and the lonelyband are headlining for
the first time, which means they're on late. No one is quite sure what
will happen - will the band end up so drunk they don't remember how to
play the triangle, let alone their chosen aural weapons? Will everyone
go
home before they come on? Will John actually fall asleep as it's
looking
quite likely....

Luckily the answer to at least one of those questions is no. The band
were senisble with their beverage consumption and played a great set.
This was the first gig since 'the bassist incident' and no-one had been
allowed to see the band rehearse as a four piece, so we were all kind of
interested to see how things would go. As it turned out, a very sweaty
Chris was more than capable of handling bass duties. The fact two new
songs were being promised added even more tension to the equation.

The set itself was as good as ever, although the absence of Stevie was a
shame. The new arrangements did seem to work very well however, and dare
I
say it, the band sounded even better than they used to!

The two new songs were cool, a welcome addition to an already excellent
repetoire.

Altogether a great night out, and the weird (and overly violent) Irish
football / rugby thing that was on the telly before the bands were on
was
excellent too.

Ian Scott:

The gig rocked!

Steph:

Best night out ive had in ages :D
