Gig! It's a gig!! Blimey!! A gig!! Woo! etc, etc.

We'll be playing at the Archway tavern (London), supporting Filtered, who we shared a stage with at the Amersham arms last year. It will be Tarik's first show with us, and we'll most definitely be throwing in a new song or two!
Come up if you can!

Times: Please note that these are approximate times which have been known to change and/or be wrong!

Flyers: Most venues count the flyers they receive at the door, and they use this as the basis for whether we get booked again! Thanks for your support!

The Band's Review:

"Scared yet?" went the text from an ever-caring Chris mere hours before my live lonelyband debut. He'd asked a similar question just eight days before when he first sent me a message proposing that we play this mothertrucker. Scared? I think, truth be told, we were all a little anxious as to how this was gonna turn out. Not only was it the first time I was going to be stepping on a stage in years, but the lonelyband itself had not played live for a while and it was also the first time those three poor boys were going to playing in front of people with their fresh new bass(ic)ist in tow. Just think, the gig marked the three-week anniversary of my passing the audition. Yeah, I think a slight sense of fear had crossed all of our minds.

We had a half-hour slot, which we'd rehearsed a coupla times, ealry the previous Sunday (headaches, hangovers and all). The practices had gone smoothly so, musically speaking, there was little to worry about (save for maybe opening with a cool and sensitive newie "Bathroom Floor Tableau", which is considerably different from much of the rest of the band's material). But the task of playing live can present it's own problems and anxieties so this was never going to be an easy ride. Once we'd soundchecked though, my spirits lifted, and I think we all started to feel a little more relaxed; the sound was good onstage, it carried well into the venue and the adrenaline started to kick-in, so we all seemed amped and ready to take the challenge on.

Then all we had to do was sit and wait and talk and think and project as to how this thing was going to go. It became 'fight or flight'. About an hour later, it was time to take the stage.

"Bathroom..." sounded sweet as it ever does and was well received. It led straight into the solid pulse of another new song, "Lumps" and then to heat things up even more we did "See It Through" and a third newie, "I Don't Want What I Want". After that we slowed proceedings down a little with "Role Model", before hitting with the climactic triumvirate of "Strangely Beautiful", "Africa(rgh!)" (in-joke) and "Leeches". And then that, esteemed friends and colleagues, was it. Show over. And I was just getting started...

In terms of marking the lonelybands reintroduction to the live circuit, I think the night was a resounding success. There was some positive feedback from the floor, including the nice fellas in our hosts, Filtered. Sure, there was a couple of technical glitches but all things considered, there was some real energy coming from that stage and I think we pulled the performance off sweetly, both as individuals and as a unit. So now bring on the next, mothertruckers!!!

Finally, I just personally wanna say a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the elder of the tribe, the sagacious Mr Fund R Stixxx, and a give huge shout out to my brother, his friend and my friends - and indeed everyone else - who come down to support us last night; it meant a lot to me and I hope to see you all at many more to come!
