Tue 26/10/2004

Studio 41, Canterbury

Doors Open: 21:00

Band on at: 23:00

Price: 2.5

Finally! A gig in Canterbury! Gav and I (CSD) went to Unimaversity there, and we got a really good Edumacation. Also, debt, self-doubt and borderline alchoholism, but it's still my spiritual home!

One day, we hope to play in Keynes Bar (at the Uni). Then we can die happy!

NOTE: THIS DATE WAS PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED AS THE 26th SEPTEMBER- THIS WAS WRONG IT'S OCTOBER!!

More details to come...

Times: Please note that these are approximate times which have been known to change and/or be wrong!

Flyers: Most venues count the flyers they receive at the door, and they use this as the basis for whether we get booked again! Thanks for your support!

The Band's Review:

Yes friends, last night we played a gig to a decent sized audience (and not just invited friends, support bands or apathetic winos!). There were real people there. About 150 or so. This was, like, for real!

So anyway, we played a set similar to last week’s Maidstone gig. Different only, in fact, by one song (the addition of the much-missed Leeches). In fact, that show very much turned out to be Some Kinda (Monster) dress rehearsal (private joke for Metallicult members only).

So yeah, we even got asked to play an encore.

Canterbury Rocks people; something the rovers, wanderers, nomads and vagabonds (another private joke, you sensin’ a theme here?) didn’t address in Chaucer’s classic novel.

Coolest sight in lonelyband history to date?

Seeing young Chrstopher offer out free CD’s at the end of our set only to have a flock of people rush toward him to collect, and then there being more punters than CD’s and so Chris having to throw what few he had left to a baying throng of the newly-converted. Like that scene in On The Waterfront, when Mack, one of the mob, is handing out work tokens to the needy and impoverished longshoremen who are desperately in need of a days pay, but due to the control the mob has over the docks there's more people than work and many are left to go home with nothing, only to return day after day for only the chance to earn themselves a living, so Mack just chucks them on the floor and watches in sick delight as the men scramble and wrestle with each other in desperation.

Hella cool!

Set List:

Hell is Other People
See It Through
Bathroom Floor Tableau
Leeches
Plan B
