The Band's Review:

Battle of theBands, you say? Bring it on mothertruckers...

...kinda! I gotta say, ahead of this particular gig, I'd been quite nervous. On the night, I was positively shaking! Not because I doubted the quality of our songs or the strength of the way we play, but the idea that there were a few people out there who were scrutinising us and literally judging us as a band is something I found quite repellent. Art is obviously not a competition, it's not a sport, it's not about trying to show other artists up or anything like that. So who's to say what and how we - or any other artist out there, for that matter - is either satisfactory or not, is either victorious or prone to failure?

But anyway, fuck that, WE WON!!!

And what a win! We played a blinder. My legs were shaking at the end, I was running on pure andrenaline, I had sweat blinding my eyes and I think the lights were burning holes into each of our foreheads, but the energy was waaaaayyy up there throughout, the needle firmly in the red. 'Hell...' and '...B' kicked things off with groove and style. '...Blessings' added a lighter moment before building into a monster and leading swiftly into the lightning-quick onslaught of '...Through' (surely the fastest we've ever played it). Newie 'Yellow Snow' is, I think, turning into quite a crowd pleaser and a number I for one am loving playing and 'Leeches' as a closer was ferocious, groovy and insistant.

Backstage post-gig was a strange place to be. I think we all knew that we'd played as well as we have in a long time. But then there was always the notion that if we still lost, what could we possibly do to ever win?!?

As it transpired, it wasn't a necessary consideration. And against the likes of Radial Drop and The View - two of the best bands we've played with in a while, IMHO - that's an achievement I hold dearly.

It's official, WE ROCK!!!

Until Round 2 at least! (Cue butterflies...)

VIP Reviews:

Russell France:

Hey guys it's Russell from the chase scene here, we played last minute instead of radial drop at the Beacon Court.

Like I said on the night you guys really rocked it as did the view. It's just a shame we had to DO BATTLE!!!!!!!! Perhaps we can play together again sometime in a more friendly environment.

Remember you can check us out at www.myspace.com/thechasesceneuk

Oh and I was going to email you but you don't appear to list you address anywhere so I posted here instead.

Chris Dabner:

Cheers man. Hope our paths cross again!
Our email address is all over this site, by the way. And there's a guestbook. And a "contact us" page. Hehehehe.
