The Band's Review:
Another local show for local people! And it was a pretty sweaty and rocking one.
Also on the bill were Andrew Sharpe and Rudimentary Confusion, who did nice lines in acoustic balladry and retro groove rock, respectively. RC’s guitar player was especially impressive.
We were really good (yeah, well if I don’t say it…). We had plenty of energy and attitude, and it went down well with the punters. The sound was a lot better than it has been lately (although Funder couldn’t hear anything and had to guess his way through a couple of sections!). I was back to my bellowing best after last week’s croak-fest, and Gav was bang on form, admirably pulling off the solo to Plan B.
However, the undoubted highlight was Tarik’s Gene Simmons style makeup. Plenty of tongue-out rock shapes were being thrown at his side of the stage! He was, of course, repeatedly blinded by the makeup melting into his eyes, but he’s suffering for his art, and it’s worth it (well, it’s worth it for me, ‘cos it’s not my eyes we’re talking about).
New song “left” had its second public airing, and it went okay. Tarik tried out the backing vox for the first time. It’s a great song in my opinion, and I’m sure it will become a staple of our set once we get it fully tight!
We did have one or two tightness issues, but that’s just muso nonsense. See it through always seems to work better at 110 mph anyway! It was a great sweaty rock show, and everyone loved it. Can’t say fairer than that really!
