Dearest friends of the lonelyband,
This note is to confirm what has been an open secret for some time.
After nearly five years, the lonelyband is splitting up at the end of 2006.
This is not due to personal feuds or musical differences, no one is going out with Yoko Ono, and no one is hooked on drugs. No one has choked on their own vomit, and no one has died in a freak gardening accident.
Tarik is moving to Turkey to start a new life there, and we are all of the opinion the definitive version of the lonelyband includes him. Therefore, we feel it would not be right to replace him, and we are going to give the lonelyband the respectful end it deserves.
But there’s a little life left in the ol’ girl yet!
We are playing our final gig on the 26th December, at the Bull & Vic in Dartford. Yeah, I know we play there a lot, but given that we are going to get extremely hammered afterwards, we thought it would be a good option! We’ll be playing an extended set, and we’d love to see as many friends and fans, old and new, as possible.
It’s Boxing Day, but dull family parties are no excuse for non-attendance!
The oft-mentioned EP has been re-upgraded to album status, and will be beavering away to finish it. Copies will be available at the final gig.
There will be news of future projects on our site, as well as updates on the progress of the final recordings over the next few weeks, so keep your eyes on www.thelonelyband.com.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our families and friends, and those of you who have supported us by buying albums, coming to shows or just generally listening to us whinge and moan over the last five years.
On a personal note, I’d like to thank Gav, Funder and Tarik for being such great collaborators, and for making the lonelyband what it is.

Hey everyone,
Just a quick note to say that I have two solo shows coming up!
They are:
Tuesday 7th November: The Bull & Vic, High Street, Dartford.
Sunday 12th November: We Anchor in Hope, Shooters Hill, Welling.
The last one went really well, so I expect to be making loads of good noise.
